Ceres is a city in Stanislaus County, California, United States. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, Ceres has a population of approximately 34,609 and a total area of 20.8km2 (8.0 square miles).
Ceres was incorporated on February 25, 1918, making it a full-service City providing police, parks and recreation, emergency services, and general government services. The city has a City Council form of local government. The City Council serves as the legislative policy making body. Elections in the City are held on the first Tuesday of November after every four years. Council members serve four-year terms and are elected by the residents within their respective district. The mayor is elected by the city residents and also serves a four-year term. The City Council meets every 2nd and 4th Monday of the month. Council meeting broadcasts are aired on Charter Cable Channel 2 on Tuesdays at 9:30 am after the Monday meeting.
