San Mateo County Sheriff Information
The San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office is responsible for protecting the life and property of the people living and working in the community as well as preserving the public peace. Sheriff Carlos G. Bolanos heads the Sheriff’s Office. Undersheriff Mark C. Robbins oversees the daily operations of the entire organization. Assistant Sheriff Edward A. Wood oversees the Administration and Support Services Divisions. The Operations Division is under the command of Assistant Sheriff Gregory P. Rothaus. The Corrections Division is led by Assistant Sheriff John W. Munsey. The Sheriff’s Office provides patrol services to the unincorporated areas within the county. It also provides contract police services to several cities which are Half Moon Bay, Millbrae, San Carlos, Eichler Highlands, the towns of Portola Valley and Woodside, as well as for the Peninsula Corridor Joint Powers Board and the San Mateo County Transit District.
