Fortuna is a city the northeast shore of the Eel River, Humboldt County, California, United States. According to the United States Census Bureau, Fortuna has a population of approximately 11,926 people and a total area of 4.845 square miles.

City Council

The City of Fortuna is a Council / Manager form of government. The city council sets policy and gives direction on matters that affect the day to day operations of the city. On the other side, the city manager is responsible for implementing Council policies, directing City staff, and overseeing the day-to-day operations of the City.

The city council is made up of five members elected from the city at large and serve four year staggering terms. The City Council appoints a Mayor and a Mayor Pro Tem from its members to serve a term of two years. Councilmembers include Mayor Sue Long, Mayor Pro Tem Tami Trent, Council Member Doug Strehl, Council Member Tiara Brown and Council Member Dean Glaser.
